ADVENTURE BUS CHARTERS began in 1983 as a proprietorship, with Doyle and Glenda Cummings as owners. At that time, ADVENTURE owned one motorcoach. As business increased, additional equipment was added. In 1986 the business was incorporated as ADVENTURE BUS CHARTERS AND TOURS. The company immediately purchased approximately four (4) acres of land and a small office building located within the city limits of Sumiton, AL.

In the early 1990's business began to boom. To accommodate the increasing demands for charter and tour service, additional buses were purchased, a modern two-story office complex and a 3-bay garage was built, and additional personnel were added in management, sales, tour planning and maintenance. Besides the office staff, ADVENTURE employs 23 full-time and 66 part-time drivers plus full-time mechanics and maintenance staff.

The United States Department of Transportation has given ADVENTURE its highest rating. The United States Department of Defense has given ADVENTURE a #1 rating, its highest rating for motorcoach carriers. ADVENTURE also is a member of the American Bus Association, the United Motorcoach Association, Cruise Lines International Association, and International Airlines Travel Agent Network.

The tour department has also enjoyed tremendous growth. In 1994 only three (3) tours were marketed. For the 2006 season, 66 different tours were included in ADVENTURE'S catalog. These tours are marketed to the public, churches, and clubs. The tours range from a one-day trip to Tennessee Amish Country to a twenty-one-day Western Extravaganza Tour. The tour department also designs custom tours and cruises for groups, clubs, churches and schools.

In 1997 ADVENTURE began marketing domestic and international travel through Collette Travel. Collette is an outstanding company that has been part of the travel industry for over 85 years. Through Collette, ADVENTURE is able to market travel to destinations in most parts of the world.

ADVENTURE has been built on hard work, dedication, and good service to the customer. It began with slow continuous growth that has exploded in the past twelve years. With that growth, ADVENTURE has become a leader in the transportation industry in the state of Alabama.
